Analogue and digital photography both rely on a vital input: light.

In analogue photography, the information we call light is analogous to the atomic structure resting on the exposed photographic film.

In digital photography, the information we call light is measured for its intensity in the form of digits and those digits are then assigned a tone.

Light is information, and its information is in digits, namely wavelengths.

Digital photography, as a protrusion of the analogue, is not analogous anymore.

With our eyes we can see our own hands; our hands can touch each other. Without these two abilities, the digital domain would have remained forever latent.

The advent of the digital signaled the contingency of mode. Being, now, is not anymore an illusion. Similarly, Nothing, now, is not anymore an illusion either. What keeps eluding us is the recurrent illusion of Being being Being.

Photography, now, is in no need of light and light-capturing apparatus.

All scientific investigation, all Science, is reliant on the mode of Being, on the mode Being arbitrarily decides to present itself within this contingency. The scarlet Beast and his whore, Nothing and Being, necessarily decry Science. Science is necessarily falsehood. Being-now is contingent on Time. Time is Death. Science heroically validates Death.

Digital photography liberates the image from its copy, Man from God. Now, images and Man are true representations of themselves.

In analogue photography, the atomic structure resting on the exposed photographic film acts out the laws of contingency… a very restricted drama. Digital photography exposes, and expands on, this contingency.

Raphael between 1512 and 1513. The Sistine Madonna. [painting]

The word we know and speak in our heart is confined in Time. Memory is all Time. Time beyond Time is unknowable. Memory is confined in Time. The word we know and speak in our heart is a name. A name is not reducible; a name is a face. The name we know and speak in our heart renders all evidence trivial, all knowledge useless.

When a pattern is indeed found, it is only because it had to be that way.
